چکیده

People in densely populated environments typically form groups that split and merge. In this paper we track groups of people so as to reflect this formation process and gain efficiency in situations where maintaining the state of individual people would be intractable. We pose the group tracking problem as a recursive multi-hypothesis model selection problem in which we hypothesize over both, the partitioning of tracks into groups (models) and the association of observations to tracks (assignments). Model hypotheses that include split, merge, and continuation events are first generated in a data-driven manner and then validated by means of the assignment probabilities conditioned on the respective model. Observations are found by clustering points from a laser range finder given a background model and associated to existing group tracks using the minimum average Hausdorff distance. We further propose a method to estimate the number of people in groups based on the number of human-sized clusters. Experiments with a stationary and a moving platform show that, in populated environments, tracking groups is clearly more efficient than tracking people separately. The results also show a high accuracy in the estimation of group sizes. Our system runs in real-time on a typical desktop computer.

A heuristic approach for multi-stage sequence-dependent group scheduling problems

We present several heuristic algorithms based on tabu search for solving the multi-stage sequence-dependent group scheduling (SDGS) problem by considering minimization of makespan as the criterion. As the problem is recognized to be strongly NP-hard, several meta (tabu) search-based solution algorithms are developed to efficiently solve industry-size problem instances. Also, two different initi...

Unscented Auxiliary Particle Filter Implementation of the Cardinalized Probability Hypothesis Density Filters

The probability hypothesis density (PHD) filter suffers from lack of precise estimation of the expected number of targets. The Cardinalized PHD (CPHD) recursion, as a generalization of the PHD recursion, remedies this flaw and simultaneously propagates the intensity function and the posterior cardinality distribution. While there are a few new approaches to enhance the Sequential Monte Carlo (S...

A Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method

Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...

Model Parameter Adaption-Based Multi-Model Algorithm for Extended Object Tracking Using a Random Matrix

Traditional object tracking technology usually regards the target as a point source object. However, this approximation is no longer appropriate for tracking extended objects such as large targets and closely spaced group objects. Bayesian extended object tracking (EOT) using a random symmetrical positive definite (SPD) matrix is a very effective method to jointly estimate the kinematic state a...

A multi-objective model for designing a group layout of a dynamic cellular manufacturing system

This paper presents a multi-objective mixed-integer nonlinear programming model to design a group layout of a cellular manufacturing system in a dynamic environment, in which the number of cells to be formed is variable. Cell formation (CF) and group layout (GL) are concurrently made in a dynamic environment by the integrated model, which incorporates with an extensive coverage of important ...
